Nairn Academy are absolutely delighted to be the first school in the Highlands to be awarded the LGBT Charter Bronze Award. Massive congratulations to our enthusiastic, committed, inclusive Equality Forum! This is a real honour and involved a huge amount of work from our young people from surveying pupils/staff, leading training sessions for staff in Aberdeen and Primary 7 pupils in Nairn, creating policies and help guides amongst many other things.

The Financial Services Department of NHS Highland would like to recruit 3 Finance Assistants on fixed term contracts until 30th June 2019 (Leave Cover). These generic posts will cover one area of financial services but the post-holder must be willing to work in a flexible manner as they may be required to move between functions periodically, and provide cover to another section within the team at short notice. The responsibilities of this role can include paying invoices, processing patient travel claims, calculating re-imbursement levels, taking payments over the phone, scanning paper documents , retrieving documents and other office duties.
Candidates must be of a positive and friendly disposition with a pro-active approach to their job. You must be able to deal with suppliers and debtors, and also patients and adult social care clients, as well as a wide range of staff who work in many different functions and locations throughout NHS Highland.
Excellent communication skills and a helpful and supportive approach are essential to be successful in these positions, as is the ability to work quickly and accurately and as part of a team.
The postholder will require good academic skills and will need to learn quickly. The postholder will gain good experience of working in a busy accounting office and get a good grounding in office procedures.

Reminder you can now apply for next terms free school meals. It will NOT be automatically put on your account in August. Forms are available from the town house in Nairn.
Any 6th year pupils that have money left on their smart accounts and would like a refund before leaving, please see the cook. Balances under £10 will be given in cash. Balances over £10 will be in the form of a cheque and will be sent to their parents/guardians.

All new Foundation Apprentices offered conditional and unconditional places will attend Inverness College UHI for 3 weeks prior to the Summer break starting on Friday 8th June.
Please ask the pupils to report to the main reception for 9.00am where a member of staff will welcome them.
All classes will run from 9.00am until 3.30pm.
At lunch time we have two cafes that sell a selection of hot and cold snacks and meals meeting all dietary requirements. Pupils are welcome to bring in a packed lunch if preferred.
Transport arrangements are currently being arranged by Highland Council and Linda King will be in touch, if this is not in place we will reimburse travel for those travelling further than 3 miles from college but will require the completed Bank Details form as sent previously.
The first day will give everyone the opportunity to have a look around the campus, meet the staff and get to know their fellow classmates!

IN KEEPING WITH THE BEACH THEME WE HAVE DECIDED TO CREATE A MOSAIC INSPIRED BY OUR LOCAL AREA.
A MOSAIC IS MADE UP OF MANY THINGS THAT ARE RECYCLED, REPURPOSED OR FOUND ITEMS LIKE THE ONES BELOW.
IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THE BELOW ITEMS AT HOME WE WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD DONATE THEM TO OUR CAUSE!
