The Beach Café

The café is doing really well so we would like to thank all of the pupils and staff who have been in. The next stage for us is that S4 will be able to use the café from the start of study leave.

  • This means S4, 5 & 6 will be able to access the café during study leave.
  • To avoid queues during busy times we will be launching a pre-order system, please ask café staff if you would like to pre-order.
  • Pupils have started to volunteer in the café, see Mr Munro or Mr Farquhar in the café if you are interested.

Thanks for your support.

HMIE Thematic Inspection: Pupil Participation, Parents and Partnerships

On Wednesday, Nairn Academy hosted two HMIE Inspectors who came as part of a fact-finding programme over Scotland to identify how schools involve young people in their own learning, and how we engage with parents and partners.

We are delighted to report that the feedback from the inspectors was extremely positive: Pupils have the opportunity to lead their learning and to take responsibility for school developments.  Our work with an increasing number of partners- IC UHI, Farmer Jones Academy, Highland Catering, Greenhive, The School of Forestry, Nairn Books and Arts, Highland Highlife, the Prince’s Trust and local businesses- has resulted in a wider range of learning opportunities and courses for pupils which fulfil their needs and those of the community. Parents have positive and productive relationships with the school, and most importantly, our young people feel empowered.  The Equality Forum, Pupil Council and Climate Change groups were praised for their input at local and national level.  Their “passion and commitment” was emphasised.

They enjoy “the freedom the school gives them to explain and express how to make the school better.” We could not be more proud of Nairn’s young folk and the difference they make today and will make in the days to come.
