A reminder that the school is closed to pupils for the midterm break on Monday 19, Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21 February. We welcome pupils back on Thursday 22 February. Hope everyone enjoys the break.
All of the Nairn pupils who applied for the taster evening have gained a place. Please be at the college for 17.30 on Thursday night. A list is outside Guidance if you would like to check.
A reminder that the college application process is open for both full-time and school courses. Please see Mr Guthrie or your Guidance Teacher if you would like more information.
A huge well done to our Equality Forum who attended the Northern Alliance Learning Festival yesterday and led sessions for teachers across the councils on equality and diversity. The pupils were a credit to Nairn Academy and we are so proud of their efforts and enthusiasm! See their video LGBT- Life Gets Better Together here – https://youtu.be/HTG925eNhEk
“Overall I am delighted at the progress— is making. She loves school and continues to excel”.
At the recent S3 parents’ evening on Thursday 8th February, we collected views and feedback on various aspects of the school.
86% of parents / carers felt their child has developed confidence at school, and 89% that their son / daughter enjoys learning. 96% of parents felt staff know their son / daughter as an individual and support them well in achieving their potential. 89% of parents were pleased with their child’s progress and reported that their son / daughter feels safe, supported and included.
As well as these positive statistics, one area we hope to improve on are clubs and activities outside the classroom. Our new Active Schools Co-ordinator starts post on Wednesday 22nd February and we look forward to a whole range of sporting activities for our young people to enjoy and benefit from.
We welcome your comments and ideas, and have added a feedback form onto our webpage as another method of getting in touch and asking how we are doing. If you have any other ideas about how we could engage with parents, please do let us know.

During the next few weeks, all pupils from S2 to S5 will be completing Course Planning for the next academic year. To support this process, there is a Course Planning Drop-In Session TONIGHT from 4.30-7.00pm in Middle School and M6 for all pupils in S2-5 and their parents and carers. This session will be staffed by Senior Management, with input from Guidance and our Careers Advisor, Kevin Guthrie. Please feel free to drop in with any questions or concerns you may have about the process, how to make choices or the various options available.
